Our Host families
Guardians International provides international students with access to our host families when they come to the UK to study at boarding schools. We are very proud of the broad spectrum of host families we are able to provide to our students and their parents. Most importantly all of our host families are truly a “home from home” and they truly enjoy providing a welcoming and fun environment for the students under their care.
To become a Guardians International host involves a set extensive and rigorous interviews and checks covering:
- Motivation and suitability
- Safeguarding children and child protection
- Heath & Safety
- Training
We truly believe that we provide some of the best hosts and homestay families available in the UK. All hosts are provided extensive ongoing support and are inspected annually.
What one of our families says about hosting with Guardians International:
We met Guardians International last spring and were introduced to the work they do to support visiting students to our country, we were pleased to be chosen, by Guardians International as a suitable host family. We live very close to Mount Kelly College and have two spare rooms to accommodate 2 students. Later that year, we met our two students from the School for the half term break and we now host them on a regular basis.
Initially we were unsure as to whether we would meet their needs and they would be comfortable with us in our home, but this soon passed as were learnt to understand their likes and dislikes and how we would all get along.
I must say, they are delightful boys and very polite and well mannered. We sit together at mealtimes and discuss the plans for the day just like any family would, we struggle some times with language and customs, but it all becomes fun as we learn about out different ways.
Although the students work very hard with their studies when they are with us, we also try to have trips out together, fishing, shopping and visiting historical places.
We started as strangers, became friends and now its our family for those short breaks throughout the year.

We take full profiles of all of our hosts families and it is better for both you and students if we understand what works best whether by age or boys versus girls. All potential host families undergo the following process:
- Telephone interview and brief profiling.
- Discussion, full profiling and interview at your home.
- Suitability review of the accommodation.
- Enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) checks.
- Ongoing review of accommodation and feedback.
We are looking for host families all over the UK and if you can provide a safe, caring and fun loving environment for children from around the World we should talk.
