Peter Barrows-Founder
Peter is the founder of Guardians International and has been working in education guardianship industry for over twenty five years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to parents and students alike. Previously he has worked with such as Gabbitas and various boarding schools including Gresham’s in North Norfolk. Prior to becoming involved in education, Peter held senior positions in the hospitality and catering industry having originally served in the Royal Navy.
Jonathan Sherry – Managing Director
Jonathan has spent a large part of his career as a professional advisor and senior executive within large global organisations. Having decided to change career path he has taken a leading role in developing Guardians International and working with our students and parents to ensure we are providing industry leading levels of service and best practice. Jonathan has two children, one attends a highly academic grammar school, the other a pastorally focussed prep school. Jonathan has a Joint Honours Bachelors degree in Economics & Politics from a London University, and a Masters in Business Administration from a top global business school. He started his working career as a Royal Naval officer and helicopter pilot.
Paula Sherry – Operations Director
Paula is a qualified nurse and midwife and has spent the last five years working in education both in administration and child welfare. With a daughter at one of the UK’s highest performing schools and a younger son at prep school, she is only too aware of the challenges, issues and concerns of both parents and children undertaking education in the UK. Paula was also educated at a private school in Norwich and trained at Westminster Hospital for her nursing qualification and Queen Charlotte’s for her midwifery diploma, both in London.
Hannah Almond – Student Coordinator
Hannah studied Maths with Education at Leeds University, giving her a sound knowledge of the education system. After having her three children, Hannah regularly volunteered at the local primary school.
With her Son at one of the UK’s selective Grammar schools, a daughter at one of the highest rated independent schools, and a younger child at primary school, she is only too aware of the social and academic pressures that the children undertaking education in the UK have on them. Hannah was also educated at a private school in Surrey.
Juliet Lee – Student Coordinator
Juliet attended Greenwich University to qualify as a Teacher gaining a Bachelors of Education Honours Degree, and taught for 25 years. She then went on to become an Educational Quality Assurance Officer for various educational establishments within the UK. She has two sons, the eldest of which is following his dream of becoming an Actor and attends one of the top Performing Arts School’s in the country. The youngest has just started Secondary education. Juliet attended a boarding school in Hertfordshire, so has excellent knowledge and understanding of the boarding system and how it works.
Kelly Powell – Finance & Student Coordinator
Kelly has worked in administration and finance in various roles throughout her career and is organised and efficient. As a mother of two teenagers she is fully aware of the needs of children throughout their school life and the importance of a high-standard education. Kelly was a School Governor for many years giving her great insight into the workings of the education system in the UK. She has acted in the role of child welfare officer and is full conversant with the needs of student and children’s needs and well-being whilst in education.
Clive Vare – Head of Inspections
Clive has been concerned with the welfare of young or vulnerable people for most of his working life. During his Army career of over 20 years he was responsible for developing and maintaining Quality Systems whilst mentoring and looking after the interests of young soldiers. For the last 15 years Clive has been working within the disability sector including meeting people in their own homes to assess their experiences. Clive’s three boys all attended Private Schools including Eaton College so he has first-hand experience of the needs and pressures that young people experience. Clive is also NEBOSH accredited one of the highest Health & Safety qualification in the UK.
Wendy Wong – Hong Kong& China Liaison Manager
Wendy is Guardians International liaison manager in Hong Kong and with a background in customer service and relations she is well qualified to act as a bridge between parents locally and our operations in the UK. Wendy spends most of her time ensuring that the highest service and communications standards are delivered to our parents.
Uniquely Wendy also supports our partner schools with local communications with parents and helps resolve any issues that may arise whilst their child is away at school.
Henry Tang – Hong Kong & China Development Manager
Henry supports the Managing Director with the development of Guardians International’s business in Hong Kong and mainland China. Having studied in the UK at boarding school he is uniquely placed to provide excellent insight’s into the needs and issues faced by students who travel to study.
He works with parents, students and agents to build insight and define how best we can support and partner with them. Henry also tutors children in Hong Kong in various subject areas including English, Maths and Drama.
