The Boarding School Association (BSA) has recently published a COVID Safe Charter which is a voluntary code (not compulsory) which schools can adopt. It aims to provide reassurance to international students and their parents that schools have done everything they can to ensure their safety when they return.

Along with AEGIS (The Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students) Guardians International is working in partnership with schools, other guardians and the BSA to ensure we are fully prepared together to ensure a safe return for all our students.

• We have ensured the following precautions and measures are compulsory to keep our students safe:
• All drivers and pupils will wear a mask/face covering.
• Drivers will sanitise doors, door handles and seats using disinfectant spray after each journey.
• Social distancing of 2m will be maintained on greeting.
• All drivers will wear gloves when handling pupil’s luggage.
• Drivers will carry hand sanitiser and both pupil and driver will sanitise their hands before entering the vehicle.
• Pupils will be asked to sit in the back of the vehicle behind the passenger seat.
• A window will always be kept open. To maintain a flow of fresh air into the vehicle.
• Pupils and drivers should carry their own tissues in-case they cough or sneeze and dispose of them appropriately.

You must complete the public locator forms before you travel. You cannot submit the form until 48 hours before you’re due to arrive in the UK and you will need to show your completed form when you arriving at the UK border. Either print a copy, or showing it on your phone.

It is possible that pupils arriving in August or September will need to be quarantined and we are currently in communication with our schools to establish how this can be facilitated. The majority of the schools we are in partnership with plan to open the boarding houses 14-days before the start of term. It is generally expected that pupils will be quarantined at school, in a familiar environment, where we know they will be safe and secure. Other options available are to be hosted with one of our Host Families (subject to availability) or to arrive with family members early into the UK to facilitate this 14 day period.

Our advice if looking to book a flight would be to make a booking to arrive in time for the start of any quarantine arrangements your school has put in place, or to coincide with any host arrangements.
